What inspired you to get involved with the Children’s Museum?
“I’ve always believed in the power of play and imagination, and when I realized Sarasota didn’t have a dedicated space where kids could dream big and explore the world, I knew we had to create one. Watching my own kids’ curiosity bloom inspired me to help bring that magic to life for other families.”
Can you share a favorite childhood memory that sparked your passion for Sarasota to have a children’s museum and you being a part of bringing that to reality?
“As a kid, I used to spend hours building elaborate forts out of blankets, pillows, sticks, banana trees and anything else I could find, imagining it was a secret world of adventure. It was that spirit of creativity and discovery that made me realize every child deserves a space to explore their wildest dreams—and what better place than a children’s museum!”
What’s an interactive exhibit or educational program you would love to see at the museum, and why?
“I’d love to see a ‘Mess Hall’ for all things messy- getting their hands dirty and exploring! ‘Inventor’s Lab’ where kids can create their own gadgets and inventions. It would be a blend of science, engineering, and pure imagination—a place where every child gets to be a little inventor for the day!”
If you could have any superpower to help you in your role, what would it be and why?
“Definitely the power to clone myself! Between all the exciting projects and the big dreams for the museum, sometimes I wish I could be in five places at once. It would also come in handy for last-minute school runs and meetings!”
What are your hobbies or special talents that might surprise people?
“Most people don’t know that I love snorkeling and exploring the underwater world! It’s like another version of the playful curiosity I bring to the museum—always looking for hidden treasures and new wonders to discover.”
If you could host a dinner party with any three characters from children’s books or movies, who would they be and why?
“I’d invite Pippi Longstocking for her fearless independence, Alice from Alice in Wonderland because she’s always open to new experiences, and Moana because she’s adventurous and never gives up. Together, they’d make for a lively, inspiring dinner party where imagination knows no bounds!”
